Newborn Essentials

I’m sure you have noticed an absence over the past month, well I promise I’ve had a good reason. On May 8th, we welcomed our beautiful second daughter into the world. I took the month off to spend some much needed time with my family as we get to know our newest addition. Next week, I’ll be sharing her name and her birth story with you all, but for now I thought I’d share some newborn essentials that helped get us through this first month.

Doc A Tot

When I was pregnant with Monroe I had heard of the Doc A Tot, but for it’s price I didn’t think it was a necessary item. Plus, we had been gifted the Halo Bassinest Swivel Sleeper. Well much to our dismay, she hated the Swivel Sleeper and baby sissy has had the exact same feelings. Once we got home, she would do okay in the bassinet at night but overall we could tell she didn’t love sleeping in it. When we got the Dock A Tot, she immediately started sleeping better. She went from sleeping 2 or less hours to sleeping 4 or 5 instantly and now, just 3 weeks after  birth, she’s sleeping in 6 and 7 hour stretches…hallelujah!!! This mama felt like a whole new woman the first night she slept for 6 hours straight and I owe it all to the Doc A Tot. If you’re a pregnant mama, I definitely recommend adding it to your registry.

Wubbanub Paci

We are pro paci in our house and if you are too, I recommend getting a Wubbanub. We bought one for Monroe when she was a newborn and she LOVED it, so we knew it was something we had to get for baby sissy too. We let Monroe pick it out and even gift it to her sister when she met her in the hospital…more on that sweet story next week. The Wub helps prop the paci up and keep it in their mouth so it doesn’t fall out as often and when their older, the stuffed animal on the end is easier for them to grab. We love sissy’s Hallie Hippo just as much as we loved Monroe’s Gerald the Giraffe.

Muslin Swaddle Blankets

I don’t know what I would do without swaddle blankets. Although neither of my girls ever liked being swaddled, these are the perfect blankets; especially for summer. They’re so soft and lightweight, we’re just obsessed with them. At 2.5 years old, Monroe still sleeps with hers every night. There are so many cute designs to choose from, you can definitely find some to match your nursery decor.

Freshly Picked Diaper Bag

I did an entire blog post on this diaper bag when I only had 1 kiddo (you can read it HERE) but now that I have 2, I just had to shout it out once more. You guys, this diaper bag is EVERYTHING…just everything!!!! It is huge and fits every single thing I need in it; from snacks and a potty seat for Monroe all the way to bottles and a change of clothes for sissy. It’s beautiful, stylish, and so well crafted all while being a completely functioning diaper bag. I’m obsessed and recommend this bag to any mama in any stage.

Milk Snob Car Seat Cover

Y’all know I love the show Shark Tank and I feel like I own (or at least want to own) everything that’s ever been on the show, well the Milk Snob cover is no exception. This cover is so soft and literally does it all. It can be used on the carseat, for breastfeeding, a high chair, shopping cart, etc. It’s so multifunctional which makes it a must have for mamas. They have a huge variety of patterns and styles, including a whole Disney collection.

Baby Wrap

I could not live without my jersey knit baby wrap. My cousin Janeen makes them and has a huge variety of patterns available, both basic and designer. I love the Ergo Carrier for when they’re a little older but for infants, I reach for my wrap every single time. It’s so soft and safely and securely holds her in place while I’m running errands, taking a walk, or getting things done around the house.
