I have been wearing makeup since I was 13 (actually since I was 3 if you count stage makeup), but it wasn’t until about two months ago that I started wearing a primer as part of my every day makeup routine. I’ve been around the park with different brand primers and either they clogged my pores really badly or they didn’t make a single difference in my makeup application and overall wear. High end or drug store, no primer seemed worth it’s price tag…until now.
About two months ago I received the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer in my Ipsy bag. I’d heard great things but didn’t expect anything new from my past primer experiences. In fact, I let it sit in my bag for about 2 weeks before even trying it for the first time. Let me tell you now, this stuff is a GAME CHANGER!!!!!
Yes, the $36 price tag is hefty and the main reason I hadn’t tried it sooner, but trust me when I say IT IS WORTH IT! It’s 1oz of product but you don’t need much each day, my 0.25 oz sample size lasted me about a month and a half so I can only image how long this full sized is going to last me.
This primer doesn’t clog my pores at all, which is a giant plus! The first time I tried it I was honestly worried. The texture is very silky and I just knew it was going to break out my skin so badly, but guess what? It didn’t! This silky primer glides onto my skin like butter and spreads evenly filling in all my pores and fine lines.
I’ve never had a problem with my makeup staying put all day, but this primer really helps with my makeup application. My cream based foundation goes on my skin easier and blends out more beautifully. I just put 4 little dots on my face; once on each cheek, one on my forehead, and one on my chin, then rub it in all over my face with my fingers before applying my foundation.
I completely recommend the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer! It has changed the way I apply my makeup and makes everything look smoother and more put together!
While their original primer is my favorite, they have 8 other primer options to choose from including primer with spf, a hydrating primer, primer to help color correct skin redness, and more.
Do you use a primer? What primer works best for you and your skin? Let me know in the comments!
